NEW YORK (AP) — If either her husband or daughter is calling, Audra McDonald knows without looking at her phone.

That's because the five-time Tony Award winner has programed the ring tone for both to be The Carpenters' hit version of "(They Long to Be) Close to You."

"It's cute, right?" the 42-year-old actress-singer asks.

It is indeed.

'Scandal' cast performs finale live for Academy

ut a crowd of approximately 700 at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in North Hollywood experienced this 'Scandal' episode differently Thursday night. The audience, comprised primarily of Emmy voters and their guests, got a live performance by the majority of the show's cast members. Star Kerry Washington and company sat in chairs on the Academy stage facing the audience, and recreated the episode's so-called 'table read.' They delivered dialogue and stage directions directly from the finale's script.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Forget the DVR.

Not this time. Not after this long of a wait.

Millions of fans actually watched the season-two finale of the ABC drama "Scandal" the old-fashioned way: on a TV screen, as it was fed from the network to their local affiliates.

But a crowd of approximately 700 at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in North Hollywood experienced this "Scandal" episode differently Thursday night.

Quickie Review: Shuggie Otis' new album best of 2013

The original 'Inspiration Information' has actually been a key influencing factor in my thought processes and behavior since I first listened to it in 1974, via WAMO in Pittsburgh. Since that time I have probably listened to it more than any other single album I have ever owned, with the possible exception of Miles Davis 'On The Corner.'

(soul-patrol.com)--This is a great album. I have been waiting for this album to appear since the mid 1970's. It's the best album I have heard so far in 2013.

CANNES, France (AP) — Before "Fruitvale Station," Michael B. Jordan was glimpsed sporadically in supporting roles on TV shows like "The Wire" and "Friday Night Lights," and in films like "Chronicle" and "Red Tails."
