The Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh hosted their 25th Annual Urban League Sunday at Pentecostal Temple COGIC, in East Liberty, Feb. 21. The keynote speaker was Rev. Dr. Harold Carter Sr. of New Shiloh Baptist in Baltimore.
There was a pre-concert by DaMarra Chanel and songs from the Church In The Round Concert Choir. The event was free and open to the public.

The order of the day was pre-concert music, musical prelude, greeting address by Esther Bush, president and CEO of Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh; welcome and prayer by Rev. Loran Mann, host pastor, Pentecostal Temple; and introduction of guest speaker by Rev. Dr. William Curtis, Mt. Ararat Baptist Church.

FEB. 28—Central Baptist Church, 2200 Wylie Ave., Hill District, will host the African-American History Celebration “Looking Back To Go Forward” from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Ralph Proctor PhD, chairman of the Ethnic and Diversity Studies Department at CCAC, will be the keynote speaker and Harold Hayes will be the Master of Ceremony. Powerless

Forty-eight hours without power does something to you.
Last weekend thousands in the surrounding areas suffered a power outage due to the snowstorm. When I went to bed on Friday night everything was fine. Early Saturday morning was a different story. I woke up early because I was so cold. A stop by the grocery store prepared me for the storm but I was not prepared for a weekend without power.
Now that I have an electric stove I wouldn’t be able to prepare any of the goodies I had purchased to get me through the weekend. No hot chocolate, no French bread pizza, no tomato soup and grilled cheese.
