Overtime

:10 I know we’ve all seen it a hundred times and I know everyone has their own list. You got Rocky, Slapshot, The Natural, Bingo Long and the Traveling All-Stars and now Blindside. But I tell you what, you’ll have a hard time not making “Remember the Titans” the No. 1 sports movie of all time. Denzel Washington at his best, the true life history of the story, the music and the on the field action…It’s hard to beat.

:9 And call they did! Some of you, no—a lot of you—called in to get me told about my “Top Ten Best Jumpers Ever” list.

Here’s an update.

“Neal, How you gonna have a top 10 without Jim McCoy? There’s a reason they called him “Jumpin’ Jim” McCoy!”

Steelers in AFC North driver’s seat with 4 games left

Very rarely does a game live up to all the hype but the Steelers, Ravens game did plus some. The 13-10 Steelers victory was without a doubt one of the best games of the season, as the defenses dominated, as expected.

Troy Polamalu was once again a key factor in the victory after being responsible for the Ravens’ lone touchdown on a miscalculation that led to Anquan Boldin scoring. He gambled and rushed the passer leaving no deep protection and Boldin burned Bryant McFadden before Ryan Clark could get across field. But he made up for this play late in the game by knocking the ball out of quarterback Joe Flacco’s hands on a safety blitz which led to the sack and fumble. It was a surprise blitz which this time did catch Flacco by surprise, as Polamalu got to the quarterback before he could release the ball. LaMarr Woodley scooped the ball up and ran it 19 yards to the 9 yard line.

"He is a heck of a player," Roethlisberger said. "One time after a play, I looked at him and he was bleeding from the mouth. I was bleeding from the nose. That says it all about a Ravens-Steelers football game."(AP Photo/Nick Wass)

City League Boys Basketball Preview…Allderdice should three-peat

by Malik Vincent
For New Pittsburgh Courier

Allderdice basketball coach Andre McDonald says he is confident that his team will be a solid contender for its third consecutive City League championship this season.

However, he also believes that there will be a surprise team in the League this season.

“I think Carrick is going to shock some people this year,” McDonald said. “They’ll have some good athletes and will hang in there from what I’ve seen out of certain players of theirs over the summer.”

Woods carries Chevron Challenge to higher rating

NEW YORK (AP)—Tigers Woods can still draw television viewers. His playoff loss at the Chevron World Challenge drew the tournament's highest preliminary rating for the final round in eight years.

U.S. Open champion Graeme McDowell's comeback victory earned a 2.7 overnight rating for Sunday's round. That's up 170 percent from last year. It's the best since a 3.1 in 2002, when Padraig Harrington beat Woods by two strokes.
