Obama wins by a landslide in kids' online election

NEW YORK (AP)—It's a landslide for President Barack Obama—at least among people too young to vote.
Nickelodeon's Linda Ellerbee said Monday that the president captured 65 percent of the vote to beat Republican Mitt Romney in the network's "Kids Pick the President" vote. More than 520,000 people cast online ballots through the children's network's website over one week earlier this month.

Since it began in 1988, the kids have presaged the adults' vote all but once, when more youngsters voted for John Kerry over George W. Bush in 2004.
Obama answered questions submitted by Nickelodeon viewers for a special earlier this month. Romney didn't participate.

Reality of hope; the Creative Arts Corner

There are many organizations located in Pittsburgh that are dedicated to the youth of our region. However, there is one program that is making a difference; that place is the Creative Arts Corner.
The Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh’s Creative Arts Corner offers a free audio/visual training program that’s free for all HACP Residents.

CAC students are provided with a unique opportunity to cultivate their creative strengths in a state of the art studio environment, learning how to compose and contribute to broadcast quality productions using professional techniques and equipment. The students also take and develop high quality digital photographs using SLR cameras and software like Photoshop.

Neighborhood Academy hosts international Atmospheric scientists

The Neighborhood Academy hosted internationally renowned Climatologist Warren M. Washington, PhD, chief scientist of the Climate and Global Dynamics Division of the National Center for Atmosphere Research.
Before an audience of 60 high school students, Washington spoke about his outstanding career in the atmospheric sciences, including his recent achievement as the first African-American to receive the National Medal of Science, the nation’s most prestigious scientific award.
