Inside Conditions...It’s good to be bad

Bad boys, bad boys, what cha gonna, do? What cha gonna do when they come for you? (Theme from “Cops”)
Now citing the lyrics from “Cops” may be a bit extreme regarding this piece of work but some of the things that I am about to say will almost certainly prove that just because you cannot be prosecuted doesn’t mean that the act is not criminal.
Recently it was revealed that Pirates skipper John Russell and GM Neil Huntington had covertly been given contract extensions ’way back in October 2009. In my opinion that is sort of like giving the CEO of BP a huge bonus and a spanking brand new contract.

Ohio State recruit shot 2nd time since April

Jamel Turner, 18, was left in critical condition by a shooting early Saturday in Youngstown. A 17-year-old girl was killed in the shooting.
Police Capt. Rod Foley said the case apparently was unrelated to a drive-by shooting on April 16, when Turner was wounded. Foley declined to discuss a possible motive for the latest shooting, but said Turner and Tracy Banks, who was killed, apparently were intended victims of a shooter who fired from outside a house.

Hey America, here’s a team you can really love

RUSTENBURG, South Africa (AP)—You want an America’s Team to get behind, America? Here you go.
Scrappy, determined and not about to back down to anybody—not even big, bad England—the U.S. men hung on for a 1-1 draw at the World Cup on Saturday night that was every bit as good as a blowout victory. It’s the kind of effort the USA loves, and it might just give the Americans the major-league status they’ve been fighting for the last, oh, 20 years.

Or at least get them a lot closer.
“We fought our way back into this game, and that’s what our team is all about,” veteran defender Steve Cherundolo said. “We fight for every inch of playing field there is.”
Fans have insisted for years that soccer is on the verge of becoming America’s game and critics have always shot back with “Oh yeah. When?”

African-American goalie cornerstone of U.S. soccer team—and envy of others

JOHANNESBURG (AP)—The lone fan in the blue U.S. Soccer T-shirt looked woefully out of place surrounded by dozens of England supporters—until he turned around.
Of course. Tim Howard’s name was emblazoned across his shoulders.
At home and abroad, Howard’s athleticism, unshakable confidence and leadership have won the Everton goalkeeper rave reviews. And despite being “in agony” from bruised—maybe broken—ribs, he made six saves to seal the Americans’ 1-1 draw with England on Saturday night at the World Cup.

The longest yard
Category: Sports Written by Aubrey Bruce
Those of you who read my thoughts on a regular basis may have noticed I have not wasted much of my time or my publisher’s ink and paper on Ben Roethlisberger’s alleged out of control “sexcapades.” This story is more about the value or non-value of specific players in sports.
I have patiently observed from afar the inner workings of the Steelers coaching staff, ownership and the NFL regarding the off the field, in the bar tribulations of the man who has won two Super Bowls. Well, saying that he won two Super Bowls is stretching the saltwater taffy a bit thin. He participated in one and was outstanding in the other.
