JUNE 14—The Urban League Young Professionals of Greater Pittsburgh will host its Commit to Care Soiree at 9 p.m. at the August Wilson Center for African American Culture, 980 Liberty Ave., Cultural District. This event is to raise awareness of the importance of service to youth and challenge attendees to dedicate time to a child. Fla. authorities seek Steelers stabbing suspect

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Sheriff's deputies in northern Florida have joined the search for a third suspect in the attempted carjacking and stabbing of Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman Mike Adams this month.
Columbia County deputies began searching Tuesday for Jerrell Whitlock, of Pittsburgh, according to Sgt. Edward Seifert, spokesman for the department based in Lake City, Fla.
"There is some intelligence that may put him in our area," Seifert said, declining to be more specific.

On June 10, Justin Strong, owner of AVA Bar & Lounge, announced he would be closing the second of his two venues, originally housed side by side near the corner of South Highland Ave. and East Liberty Blvd. His first venue, Shadow Lounge, was a staple of East Liberty for more than a decade before it closed this March.

For nearly ten years, Abay Ethiopian Cuisine has served as “a source of cultural and culinary nourishment for the city of Pittsburgh.” But on June 7, Abay Owner James Wallace announced the restaurant would be closing its doors on June 30.
