This week I visited the Greater Pittsburgh Coliseum in Homewood, The Grey Box Theatre in Lawrenceville, The Kelly Strayhorn Theatre in East Liberty, The Shadow Lounge in East Liberty and CJ’s in the Strip District.
My first stop was at the Greater Pittsburgh Coliseum in Homewood where the Whiteside Side Road reunion took place. This event happens every year. One year it’s located at Ammon’s Recreation center in the Hill District and the following year it’s held at the Greater Pittsburgh Coliseum in Homewood. I have to shout out the whole Whiteside Road Reunion Committee including my girl Connie and my boy Clarence.

My next stop was at the Shadow Lounge in East Liberty where DJ Selecta and guest DJ Stylus held Classic Material. This event was packed and everyone got their dance on. I have to shout out DJ SMI and DJ Vex. If you missed this event, you really missed a good time.
My next stop was at the Grey Box Theatre in Lawrenceville where everyone surprised Lucky, of Lucky Charms Productions, with a birthday party. Antoinette was in charge of this event and she really held it down while David “The Frog” Bey was on the microphone doing his thing.

My next stop was at the Kelly Strayhorn Theater in East Liberty where the 4th Annual Keepers of the Flame Awards Celebration was held. This event honored Dr. Vernell Lillie, WAMO, Al Dowe, Fred Kenderson and Chuck Austin. I have to shout out the one and only “Imani” who is doing big things for the community.
My final destination was at CJ’s in the Strip District where everyone got their party on with the oldies but goodies. It was great to see everyone come out and kick it in style the day after the G-20 was over.
