'I'm Not Scared' back to school revival

The 2010 JAM (Jesus Anoints Me) citywide back to school session had over 800 youths in attendance at Petra International Ministries in Penn Hills Aug. 20.
This year’s JAM back to school revival’s theme was “I’m Not Scared” to show today’s youths there is nothing wrong with being positive and praising God. Several churches participated including Cathedral of Praise Church of God, Central Baptist Church and Mt. Ararat Baptist Church, making up 15 different churches from countless communities, all under one roof.

Hosanna House Summer Camp still a place of hope

A place called hope was the old mission statement Hosanna House used to live by. And a place of hope, encouragement and support it truly was.
It all began 20 years ago when Leon E. Haynes saw the possibility of the future, and he has been changing lives ever since. Now celebrating their 20th year anniversary, Hosanna House has recently changed their mission statement to “The Mission is Possible.”
| PROTECTED BY GOD—A reenactment of the story from the Bible where three believers in God were supposed to be burned alive but were not hurt by the flames because God protected them.

PBMF workshop exposes youth to professional media

Students of the Pittsburgh Black Media Federation’s Frank Bolden Urban Journalism Workshop cleared the competitive application process to begin a rigorous, weeklong program that gears them toward becoming the field’s professionals of the future.

This year, the 28th annual workshop was held on the campus of Point Park University from July 31-Aug. 7.
“I was very excited to see how, once again, the students have grown from day one (of the program) to the end of it, said PBMF President Tonita Davidson. They found their stories and developed them (independently). I can tell that most of the participants will go far.”
