Across this nation the unemployment situation is at an critical all time high and unless it is addressed and corrected it will accelerate the demise of our families, community and will send more Blacks, particularly men to penal institutions. It is commendable that President Barack Obama has the driving concern, commitment and integrity to asked proven community organizations for help.
A local organization, Your Sister’s Project, Inc., a 501(c)(3) public, charitable nonprofit organization has been invited by the White House to host a local community forum to provide Obama with some crucial answers to the massive unemployment. In a meeting the question was asked how will the local organization respond to this overwhelming problem?
The instant response was this event will be solution-driven not emotion- driven as we work collectively with those in attendance to gather ideas to grow the economy and put Pittsburghers back to work.
I have an overwhelming concern about the unemployment rate and the difficulties that Black entrepreneurs are confronted with, so it was almost mandatory that I seek more information about what is described as a community jobs forum.
There are also vending opportunities that provide information relating to job opportunities.
The special guest moderators are Celeste Taylor, director of the Regional Equity Monitoring Project, and Brother Minister Jasiri X of Nation of Islam Muhammad Mosque No. 22. There will be several outstanding active participants taking part in the program including guest teleconference speaker, Akbar Muhammad, an international lecturer, historian, world traveler, businessman and foreign diplomat. Local panelists include Rich Adams, vice president of ACCC, Fredrick Douglas, president of Cosmo Engineering, Bill Robinson, Allegheny County councilman, Jackie Hill, SBA specialist, Bob Lawson CEO of 6 Degrees, Rashad Brydsong, CEO OF CEA and two others, who will be named at a later date.
The year is almost over, do you intend to make a contribution to Kingsley Association?
