OCT. 28—Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 451 Park Ave., Clairton, will host a Pastoral Anniversary Celebration at 7 p.m. They are celebrating 47 years with Pastor William C. Callaway. The celebration will run through Nov. 2 and include guest preachers Rev. Donald Turner and Rev. Jerome Stevenson. ‘A Harvest Carol’

OCT. 31—The Youth and Fine Arts Ministry of Triedstone Baptist Church, 18 Harriet St., Rankin, will host the drama “A Harvest Carol” at 1 p.m. There will be a free will offering taken and a luncheon in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the play. For more information, call 412-271-3000.

Where can you find a flu shot? According to the evening news flu shots are scarce. Not shots for H1NI aka the Swine Flu but just your regular flu shots.

I surely hope that someone is not trying to scare the public. I’ve seen signs at Walgreen’s, CVS and local Giant Eagles for flu shots. The shots aren’t free but seem to be available.

Henry Jackson, 51, is in a bigger quandary: how to fill an unexpectedly high volume of orders that came in after the debut in September of his spring 2010 womenswear collection.

Last month in regal style the African Methodist Episcopal Church Women’s Missionary Society, Pittsburgh Conference, held their annual banquet with the theme: Ambassadorship.

The participants and attendees were elegantly dressed in African attire. Historic St. James AME Church was decorated beautifully for the occasion and the venue was filled to capacity.

The conveners were all church pastors and during their weeklong conference they covered issues in the community, strategies for the new year and sponsored a gathering of youths.
