Toy Drive

NOV. 8—Who’s Your Brother? will host a Toy Drive from 6-9 p.m. at Shadyside Honda, 5121 Liberty Ave., Shadyside. This is to help disadvantaged families during the holiday season. State Conference

NOV. 9—The NAACP Branch of Washington will host the NAACP Pennsylvania’s 78th State Conference at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel, Race Track Rd. Meadowlands. The three-day conference will include workshops on education, health, veteran affairs, the economy and social justice. The Freedom Fun Dinner will include Tim Stevens, as the keynote speaker, and recognition of Jordan Miles. For more information, call 724-222-7820.

2012 State of Black Pittsburgh

NOV. 10—The Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh will host the 2012 State of Black Pittsburgh from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Carnegie Mellon University Center, 5000 Forbes Ave., Oakland. There will be several workshops for youth and adults focused on the theme “Raising Champions,” along with a resource fair and a keynote address from Andrew Stockey, Esther Bush, Charlie Batch, Jerome Bettis, Ryan Mundy and their parents on how to raise a champion. Harvest Tasting

NOV. 10—Farm to Table Pittsburgh will host the Farm to Table Harvest Tasting from 3-7 p.m. at Bakery Square, 6425 Penn Ave., East Liberty. This is a family friendly event for all ages that will feature tasting and samples from local vendors, live entertainment and more. Fundraiser

NOV. 10—Destiny Leadership Academy will host a Fundraiser from 5-8 p.m. at Destiny International Ministries, 7061 Lemington Ave., Lincoln-Lemington. This event is a fundraiser for the all male city private academy. The hosts will be Pastors Michael and Donna Smith, along with special guests Curtis Martin, Chuck Sanders and State Rep. Ed Gainey. Racial Justice Awards

NOV. 14—The YWCA of Greater Pittsburgh will host the 21st Annual Racial Justice Awards Dinner at 6:30 p.m. at the Westin Hotel, 1000 Penn Ave., Downtown. This ceremony honors women, men and organizations that have made lasting contributions to the region by helping to eliminate racial inequity in everyday life. This year’s honorees are Tim Stevens, Chauncy Smith, Epryl King, Rev. Dr. Moni McIntyre, Paula Davis, David Harris, Alexi Werner and Michael Sutton.
