Anniversary Celebration
SEPT. 14—The Children’s Sickle Cell Foundation Inc. will host its 10th Anniversary Celebration from 6-9 p.m. at FunFest Entertainment Center, 2525 Freeport Rd., Hamarville. This is a celebration of the accomplishments made by the foundation over the 10 years. The evening will include unlimited cosmic bowling, laser tag, video games, food and more. Provider Symposium
SEPT. 15—Gateway Medical Society and the Allegheny County Medical Society will host the “Electronic Health Record and Patient Centered Medical Home Adoption, Implementation and Optimization” Provider Symposium from 7:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Herberman Conference Center, UPMC Shadyside, 5150 Centre Ave., Shadyside. SEPT. 15—The Ujamaa Collective will host the 2nd Annual Children’s Literary Festival from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Open Air Marketplace, 2030 Centre Ave., Hill District. The theme is “My mind is an open book.” The event is to increase the literacy rate of children and help foster a true love for reading in today’s youth. Friendship Walk
SEPT. 16—Best Buddies Pennsylvania will host its Friendship Walk at Kennywood Park, Kennywood Blvd., West Mifflin. This community fundraiser is to support the programs that create friendships and social inclusion opportunities for children and adults with Down syndrome, Autism and other intellectual and developmental disabilities. Violence Training
SEPT. 25—Family Links will host a Domestic Violence Training from 6-8 p.m. at 250 Shady Ave., Oakland. The event is to celebrate Recovery month. The theme is “Join the Voices of Recovery-It’s Worth It.” The facilitator will be Tricia Underwood, M.Ed., and she will discuss emotional, physical and sexual violence, the warning signs and how to create a safety plan.
