Forget crow’s feet, how you shop can reveal your age

I’m going to tell you a secret, but you have to keep it just between us: my macaroni and cheese is better than my mother’s. But she doesn’t know that, so sssh. Mom and her friends use Velveeta processed cheese to make their hot, bubbly, baked delight. My crew and I prefer real cheeses.

According to my employer, The Nielsen Co., the keepers of all the buzz on consumer trends—including what you watch, buy, read, text and surf—mom’s and my differences extend way beyond processed versus real.

A decade of the ultimate experience

After operating the Ultimate Beauty Spa in different capacities for the past 10 years, owner Leslie Askerneesa says the business has evolved where, “I finally understand the meaning of owning a spa. It’s more than just making my clients feel good, but about total health and wellness.” Excited about how far the business has come and the possibilities as to where it is yet to go, Askerneesa says her clients are in for a “better self.”

Who have you touched?

Mrs. Ella Mae Cheeks Johnson, of Cleveland, Ohio, recently passed after having spent 106 years in this life. As a fellow church member, I had the wonderful opportunity to visit Mrs. Johnson on numerous occasions and to share her philosophy of life. Just before her 99th birthday she reflected on her life in the following way, “I have had a wonderful life. God has been good to me. I’ve always tried to be a good Christian and help people in any way I could. The secret to a rich life is to have a passion for living, strong relationships with others and to be at peace with one’s self.”

Understanding Form W-4

If you have been receiving a relatively large tax refund (refund in access of $1,500) in the past couple of years, yet you’re finding it hard to make ends meet. This article is for you.
Nearly 70 percent of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck. After they pay their monthly expenses and debts, they have nothing left over to save and invest for future goals, payoff debt and/or spend on activity that’s conducive toward romance, amusement, and entertainment.
