Legends gather for Pitt Jazz Seminar

The 39th Annual Pitt Jazz Seminar and Concert featured the greats of jazz history. From left: George Cables,, one of the most prolific and dynamic pianists in jazz; Benny Golson, tenor saxophone, legendary composer of “Killer Joe;” Donald Harrison, alto saxophone, the swinging saxophone of Donald Harrison/Terrance Blanchard; Jimmy Owens, trumpet, formerly with Charles Mingus; Yotam Silberstein, guitar, Israel’s critically acclaimed rising star, Leon Lee Dorsey, bass, formerly with Art Blakey and The Lionel Hampton Big Band; Lew Soloff, trumpet, the explosive trumpet sounds of Blood, Sweat & Tears; and Terri Lyne Carrington, drums, the hottest young drummer in jazz.
