D Day at TLC

October 21 was D Day at The Lord’s Church in Monroeville. Reverend Claudette Dennis is affectionately called Pastor D by her congregation. On the third Sunday in October, her 10th year of pastoring the church was celebrated with a two-part celebration. There was a 10 a.m. service followed by a celebration dinner and a 4 p.m. service; both services featured Pastor Neville Billy of Raise His Praise Worship Center, in Roswell, Ga., as the keynote speaker.

According to the church history, since the inception of the church, Pastor D was quite content in the background as wife to Pastor Archie Dennis Jr., mother, nana and Mom D to her many spiritual children at The Lord’s Church. On the last Sunday before his death, Oct. 21, 2001, Pastor Archie spoke prophetically to Pastor D and said she would be called out of her comfort zone. After her husband went home to be with the Lord, Pastor D took up the mantle and on July 14, 2002 was installed as pastor of The Lord’s Church.

God’s strength has been Rev. Claudette’s clothing since Pastor Archie’s promotion to be with our Lord. She’s been a faithful servant. Whether it means playing the drums for church services, providing administrative support, or whatever her hands find to do, she remains steadfast, even to this day, in serving God, His people, and her family.
