Teen entrepreneurs vie for thousands

Entrepreneuring Youth recently held its annual Youth Entrepreneur Regional Business Plan Competition at the Rivers Casino, providing a showcase for young people to demonstrate their business ideas and talents. The program was sponsored by the George W. Tippins Foundation and named in honor of George W. Tippins, one of Pittsburgh’s most successful entrepreneurs, inventors and financiers of the latter half of the 20th century.

Entrepreneuring Youth ignited possibilities for middle and high school students as these students vied for more than $6,000 in local seed money.

The purpose was to assist local students with learning the basics of math, English and reading by providing entrepreneurship tools and opportunity. Each year, Entrepreneuring Youth holds a Business Plan Competition spanning over a few weeks leading up to a final event such as the IGNITE EVENT held at the Casino. The “seed capital” was distributed to the winning students as judged by a panel of local entrepreneurs.
