Northside Urban Pathways will launch a second mentor program, Women in Sync Everywhere, and is seeking adult females to join the initiative.Amanda Green, county council member; and Carmen Robinson will co-host an informational breakfast Nov. 11 at 7:30 a.m. at The Rivers Club in Oxford Center. The program compliments the school’s existing Benefiting Afro-American Males and Minorities mentor program spearheaded by the Judge Dwayne Woodruff. “The BAAM initiative has partnered several dozen adults and male students successfully,” said Judge Woodruff. “Now it is time to phase in the support for the young women.”

Northside Urban Pathways CEO Linda Clautti, Ph.D., said, “We have learned from the BAAM program that the involvement of adult role models outside of our school staff helps our students with better academic performance, attitudes, and behaviors.” During its first year, WISE will seek to match all high school young women who desire a mentor. “I was fortunate to have a mentor as a young woman,” said Carmen Robinson. “I learned the power of goal-setting from her, and it’s a skill that has served me well.”
“It is an honor to have the opportunity to influence the lives of the next generation of women, and to help them become successful adults,” Green said.“We expect each mentor relationship to follow the students from high school through college years,” said Clautti. “Our students all have the potential to be high achievers.”
