Civil rights icon released from Atlanta hospital

ATLANTA (AP)—Civil Rights icon Joseph Lowery has been released from an Atlanta hospital after two weeks.An Emory University Hospital spokesman said Sunday Rev. Lowery was released Saturday night.
The 88-year-old Lowery was admitted to the hospital two weeks earlier with a blood clot in his lung.

He stood with Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. during the Civil Rights Movement and offered the benediction at President Barack Obama’s inauguration last year.
Lowery received the Presidential Medal of Freedom several months later.
He co-founded the Southern Christian Leadership Conference along with King and was the group’s president for two decades.
