Obama is Namibia’s top newsmaker

Human rights lawyer Norman Tjombe commended the U.S. president “for his leadership on matters such as global warming, ending nuclear proliferation, bringing to an end poorly regulated financial markets, and making more friends than enemies for the U.S., for showing what presidents must do [and not do].”

Swapo youth leader Elijah Ngurare cited the inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th U.S. president, making him the first African-American president of that country, as the top world news event.

Community activist Abisai Shejavali described the world news event of the year as the swearing in of President Obama... “His inaugural speech was very great, and the way in which he has inspired... especially young people is noteworthy. I just hope that he will be able to bring positive change to Iraq and Afghanistan.”
